Save the Date for APCC’s 18th Annual Pain Symposium

IMG_5241 editedAnesthesia Pain Care Consultants announced that it will host its 18th Annual Pain Symposium at the Coral Springs Marriott – Heron Bay Site on Saturday, November 7, starting at 7 a.m. There will be a great lineup of speakers and topics. Standiford Helm, MD MBA

Founder of The Helm Center – California

A graduate of Harvard College (magna cum laude) at Harvard University, and Tufts University, Dr. Helm is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a subspecialty certification in pain medicine. He has been practicing interventional pain management since 1982. A qualified medical evaluator, Dr. Helm works as a consultant and expert witness for multiple organizations. He serves in leadership positions with state-wide and national pain management societies, publishes, and lectures extensively. Dr. Helm has extensive expertise in spinal stimulation.

Jacob Lazarovic M.D., FAAFP

Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, Broadspire Services

Dr. Jacob Lazarovic directs the Medical Department at Broadspire. The department produces clinical guidelines and criteria that support sound medical claim and case management practices. He directs the operation of  a comprehensive and unique in-house physician review (peer review) service.

Dr. Lazarovic held several senior medical management positions at companies including HealthAmerica, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida and Vivra Specialty Partners before joining Broadspire, and he has been published extensively in industry journals.

Michael Coupland, CPsych, RPsych CRC

Psychologist, Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant

Michael Coupland is a Charter Psychologist, Registered Psychologist and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. He co-founded three national Disability Evaluations companies that have performed over 160,000 evaluations. He is author of the COPE with Pain program for chronic pain intervention and national practice leader for a national network of psychologists providing the COPE program. Mr. Coupland is an chapter author of the AMA 6th Ed. Guidelines companion text Guides to the Evaluation of Functional Ability.

 Ira Fox, MD, DABPM, FIPP, ABIPP

Founder Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants

Dr. Fox maintains the following board certifications: American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP); World Institute of Pain (WIP) – Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP); American Board of Pain Medicine (DABPM); and the American Board of Anesthesiology with added certification in Pain Management. Dr. Fox serves as an examiner for the FIPP Board Certification and ABIPP Interventional Practical Examination, observing applicants as they perform procedures and assessing their techniques.

Cuneyt Ozaktay, MD

Pain Specialist – Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants

Dr. Ozaktay, Senior Pain Care Specialist, joined Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants in July 2008. He attended medical school at University of Istanbul, Cerrahpasa Medical School. Dr. Ozaktay received his degree in anesthesiology at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical School in Michigan and completed a fellowship in pain management at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He specializes in implantable pain pumps and spinal stimulation.

 Javier Vilasuso, MD

Pain Specialist – Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants

Dr. Javier Vilasuso is an Anesthesiologist with subspecialty fellowship training in Pain Medicine by the University of South Florida. He is trained in treatingherniated and bulging disks through the use of percutaneous intra-discalozone chemonucleolysis. This procedure is extremely effective in reducing compressive extruded, herniated or bulging disks which can cause severe debilitating referred or spinal pain. Ozone Chemonucleolysis has been used throughout Western Europe, China and Canada for over thirty years as an alternative to back surgery.
